Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
This is SINTEF ICT
SINTEF ICT offers high levels of skills and state-of-the-art technology within SINTEF's areas of focus: Renewable energy, climate and environmental technology, Oil and gas, Ocean space technology, Health and welfare and Enabling technologies
The institute carries out research and development projects and research-based consultancy, and provides laboratory and small-scale production services. SINTEF ICT offers its products and services to almost all industrial and social sectors.
European aircraft to use satellite communication
The European aviation sector is planning to introduce satellite communication between aircraft and the ground, resulting in fewer zig-zag flight paths, reductions in CO2 emissions, and saved time and money. Norwegian researchers are looking into data security risks.
Norwegian researchers make European air traffic more efficient
Many major European airports are unable to expand. This means that aircraft departures, arrivals and surface movements will have to be speeded up. A Norwegian system designed to make all airport movements more efficient is tested in Hamburg, and at Arlanda in Stockholm and Charles de Gaulle in Paris.

Giantleap aims to increase lifetime and reliability of fuel cells in buses
The goal of the SmartPower project is to demonstrate the usefulness of modern optimisation methods for demand respons applications in energy market. To this end, we develop a prototype for optimised Power Matching/load balancing in large scale Smart Grids, a highly complex optimisation problem.
SINTEF's labs cover a large variety of fields in acoustics, including noise, hearing, building acoustics, underwater acoustics, and auralisation.
Environmental Exposure Lab
The Environmental Exposure Lab has equipment to expose sensors and electronics for rough external stress of various kinds.
Health Technology Innovation Lab
The Health Technology Innovation Lab is an innovation and demonstration environment for physiological monitoring equipment and integrated Telecare-, Telehealth- and Smart home solutions.
SINTEF ICT is a research division in SINTEF, located both in Trondheim and Oslo with around 300 employees. SINTEF ICT carries out research in Information and Communication Technology for industry and the public sector. We cooperate closely with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the University of Oslo (UiO).
