The aim of the current study is to identify opportunities for creating resilience related to distributed collaboration in the Drilling and Well (DW) operations performed in StatoilHydro (SH).
The focus is on the Sub Surface Support Centre (SSC) in SH, distributed work and information sharing between the centre and other units in the D&W network. The centre strengtens collaboration between different professions in the organisation, because of the co-location and cooperation of different disciplines in the centre.
The SSC contributes to resilience in drilling operation by: abilities to foresight (information on drilling performance and multidisciplinary expert knowledge); as a facilitator for experience transfer among actors (the centre has an overview of normal operations and deviations from a range of installations); and as a resource whten handling disturbances (by use of information and expert knowledge).
