Wednesday 24 June 14:00 - 17:30
The pHealth 2009 workshop continues the technology demonstrations with a visit to the main hospital in Norway, Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet. The Interventional Centre is a research and development centre for image guided and minimally invasive therapy at Rikshospitalet and Faculty of Medicine at University of Oslo. The centre was established in 1996 to develop novel treatment methods and acts as a link between clinical practice and applied- and basic research in the fields pertaining to minimally invasive and image guided therapy.
In medicine, there is an overwhelming need for constant and minimally invasive monitoring of vital body functions, especially during advanced and complicated surgery procedures. Biomedical sensors provide the doctor with vital information and guide him towards a successful intervention. New technologies open up for minimal invasive treatment and better diagnostics.
The demo session will demonstrate the use of biomedical sensors during surgery procedures transmitted live to the audience from the operation theatre. Ongoing research activities, both at Rikshospitalet and in European projects, will also be presented.
Do not miss this opportunity to see how biomedical sensors provide the doctor with vital information during surgery!
