Julien S. BourrelleJulien is a PhD Candidate working on the definition of Zero Emission Buildings. He was born in Canada and studied engineering at McGill University. He spent some time at the University of Western Australia and then moved to Europe where he received his M.Sc. from the Technische Universität München and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. His background is in Space Technology. He worked on Space Habitats and on the Influences and Responsibilities of Space Technologies towards the Environment. Julien joined the ZEB Centre in 2009.
Nicola LolliThis PHD research within the ZEB project focuses on the retrofitting of the existing apartment blocks in Norway in order to achieve Zero Emission Building standards.
Lolli is mainly interested in defining possible relations between the Carbon emissions associated to the material use and to the users’ behaviors. The former aspect is primarily covered by LCA methodology, considering the different steps of material life (production, transportation, building, operational, demolition) while the latter aspect involves the users’ perception of space, in terms of its flexibility and the comfort level.
