Focus is on using dielectric fluid as combined insulation and cooling medium for the power electronic devices.
The dielectric fluid is exposed to the high electric fields at the surface of the semi-conductor devices.
The main topic of the PhD study is on field distribution close to the semi-conductors and on discharge and breakdown phenomena in the dielectric fluid.
he field close to the semi-conductor is inhomogeneous, the field strength is very high with small gap distances and both dc and high frequency components are present.
The candidate is working on studying discharge phenomena in the dielectric fluid under these conditions.
