The project is a strategic research project funded by The Research Council of Norway under contract number 431178. The primary objective of this project was to build a world class research group with a focus on applications running on standard hardware, addressing the use of parallel heterogeneous computing for computational algorithms.
Secondary objectives include continuing promoting heterogeneous computing to software developers, the industry, and academic communities.
The GPGPU project was a strategic research project funded by The Research Council of Norway under contract number 158911/I30. The main objective of this project was to demonstrate to Norwegian (and international) industry the potential that lies in graphics hardware used as a high-performance computational engine. This was achieved through building demo applications and prototype numerical libraries for graphic cards.
The secondary objective was to build a strong research group in the use of graphics cards as computational engines, and to offer leading expertise on its industrial use. We focused in particular on problems within computational geometry and image processing.
