Objectives

Main Objective:
Develop knowledge, methods and tools to enable efficient and safe design and operation of CO2 pipeline transport and injection systems, including improving the ability to predict the behaviour of CO2 mixtures during operation and situations like shut-down or blow-out.

Sub objectives:

  • Develop and analyse thermodynamic models for relevant mixtures of CO2 and impurities, using experimental data.
  • Develop fluid mechanical models and combine them with thermodynamical models into a research tool that can simulate relevant scenarios for transport and injection of CO2 mixtures.
  • In close cooperation with internationally leading experts, educate two PhD candidates and one postdoc within thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and numerical methods, relevant for CO2 transport and injection, on a high international level.
