Instituto SINTEF do Brasil was inaugurated on February 17th 2011 by the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Trond Giske, and SINTEF's CEO, Ms Unni Steinsmo. The focus for Instituto SINTEF do Brasil will be on research related to materials, petroleum and marine environment, while MARINTEK do Brasil will continue providing research and development services related to marine technology. A MARINTEK-SINTEF/PETROBRAS workshop on Ocean Engineering was arranged on Monday 6th December.
The workshop was motivated by the Cooperation Agreement signed between PETROBRAS and the SINTEF group, and counted with the participation of SINTEF's university partners USP and UFRJ. The focus was on identification of Petrobras demands in terms of research, and on the identification of synergies between SINTEF and the universities to respond to this demand.
