SINTEF documents the importance of the fishing and aquaculture sector
In the course of a cooperative effort that has continued for several years, SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture and SINTEF Technology and Society have developed a useful analytical tool for the fishing and aquaculture sector.

The analysis for 2004 has just been finished, and the Norwegian Seafood Federation, which sponsored the project, has published the key figures in the fisheries and aquaculture trade press.

The figures show that 2004 was an excellent year for the industry, and current indications are that 2005 will also be a good year. The industry is becoming ever more efficient, insofar as the number of man-years it employs is falling while creation of wealth and turnover are both rising.

The annual turnover of the Norwegian fishing and aquaculture sector is approaching NOK 100 billion.
