Environmental modelling

Numerical modelling of environmental processes supports objective, science-based management of natural resources as well as recreational and industrial activities.

SINTEF is in the forefront in developing models addressing effects and risks associated with operational and accidental discharges to the environment. These modelling activities are closely integrated with laboratory, meso-scale, and field studies supplying data specifically for model calibration and verification. They also involve the use of spatial information technology for handling and improving modelling data and for scientific visualisation of the modelling results.
