Traceability work in SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture

After big food scandals in recently, the issues of logistics, transport and traceability have drawn a lot of attention showing vulnerability of the food industry. SINTEF Fisheries and aquaculture is participating in several national and international traceability projects.

The main goal of our work is to contribute to the better guaranties of the food quality and improving the efficiency of the logistic functions in the value chain for fish by:

• Developing international standards for traceability issues
• Developing a traceability infrastructure for the whole fish (food) supply chain
• Promoting the practical implementation of the traceability by dissemenation of the knowledge through the media and industrial projects for its realisation.

We work on the following problems:

• Implementation
• Modeling

The other projects which are of interest, are value chain logistics, information logistics and marine transport.
