System and service design

Design patterns illustration text

Systems design is the process of defining the architecture, interfaces, components and data for a system to satisfy specified requirements. It can be seen as the application of systems theory to product development. We build all our work around the standard for human-centred design for interactive systems (ISO 9241).

Service design is all about making the service you deliver useful, usable, efficient, effective and desirable for the end-user. We apply design tools and involve the end-user to improve existing services or to create new ones.

Design patterns and, not least, design patterns collections present solutions on design problems in a structured manner, highlighting the importance of examples. An important part of a design pattern collection is the structure through which to find the design pattern solving a given problem, or that may serve as the needed inspiration.

Projects

  • EMERGENCY (2008-2012). Mobile decision support for crisis management. Design of user interfaces for mobile solutions for emergency personnel.
  • FLAMINKO (2006-2008). Development of user friendly solutions for mobile devices.
  • UMBRA (2004-2005). Development of user interfaces for mobile devices, in particular PDAs and smart phones.
