The department is located in Oslo and consists of a staff of more than 30 researcher, both a research director and senior staff included, 20 research scientists and eight PhD students.  20 % of the scientists are women.

In addition we provide office space and supervision for 10-15 MSc students, mostly associated with the University of Oslo, but also with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, as well as other universities.

We have an international environment with people originating from more than seven countries besides Norway. We cooperate with various research institutions in Europe and have foreign scientists visiting us for shorter or longer periods.

We have a large portfolio of Norwegian and international projects.
